It’s late, but it’s not too late. The Russians are not invincible giants, as their slow progress in Ukraine has shown. But Europeans (including the UK) can’t waste any more time, & need to learn from UA how to defend effectively.

NATO is a paper tiger at this point. Putin will probably test it very soon on Baltic states, just to confirm what we already know. Europe was too slow to prepare and now it's too late.
