Good point. I was asked (on here) why it's so important to trans people and while I don't know *your* answer to that, if you say it's important, I believe you. I'd hate to be forced to use the men's room because people think I'm not feminine enough for the ladies'.

Exactly I feel like this framing ends up with cis men saying they are ok with us using their bathroom. When even if that were safe (which it wouldnt be), most of us would never do since it would really kick in dysphoria.

It just excuses people from doing anything to support us. Imagine a white person in 1960 saying “I don’t care where a Black person sits on the bus” — well that’s great you don’t care, but it’s still illegal for them to sit in the front

At this point we need all the help we can get so need allies but I always get annoyed by how they relate to us. Its the difference from when Im stealth and treated as just another woman/mom and having people see me as a person to feel sorry for (while not treating us the same way as other as women)
