We educators spend a lot of time lamenting the demise of the lecture, but if my Fall 2023 evaluations are any indication, students want more lectures, not fewer.

I moved away from lectures (at least in person) almost entirely a few years ago. Every term I get comments like "it would be better if he just lectured"
You may likely know this, but pedagogy research literature tells us students like lecture (in part because it's passive) but do not acquire and retain knowledge as effectively as through group work, projects, teams, games, experiential activities, etc.
I get a lot of this too, especially with students wanting to understand the broader context for whatever they're discussing. Lectures have limitations (like all forms of pedagogy) but I think that can be helpful esp. in otherwise discussion heavy classes
