Let It Be, with the exception of some songs, is such a drop off compared to Abbey Road. The Beatles produced their best albums when they were infighting but by Let It Be, something clearly broke

It terms of chronology and release, it does come after Abbey Road but you are right in that some songs were recorded before Abbey. It seems to me that this was an album that the band could not have recovered from, although as albums go it would generally be regarded as a masterpiece for anyone else
