My dad had a holder that had all the maps, folded correctly. He’d open the relevant one and show me the route. But for real, as teens and young 20s, we just got in the car and headed in the general direction 😂

My dad is old school Latino. My mom has zero sense of direction, like she gets lost in a two block radius. I was our navigator and I took enough trips with my partner to become an expert at rerouting before there was tech. Its the first big kid thing the wee bears will learn.

Right now we are doing easy things where they tell us how to get to their preschool from memory and they need to be able to tell us if we're going the wrong way - which they LOVE more than anything, lol.
