Ya, but most fun events are generally ones that aren't the competitive ones, mostly because people don't want to do narrative ones out of fear of competitive players not showing up half the time

Ya, this, I wish people go a bit more silly sometimes, nowdays a lot TTRPG things can get a bit more goofy, and frankly it's a bit of a sad state of affairs when wargamers aren't nearly as goofy
Ya, I got a cosplay suit in the works, trying to poke some local people to let me run demo games in full suit, but as culture of wargamers doesn't exist in my country, got some trouble XD
Well, it's a creative hobby, and if being creative and having fun is not for you, it's not for you, that is perfectly fine. Warhammer is not game for people who dislike painting minis or want competitive balanced game after all.
Hell, if people dislike luck being a factor, actually decent diceless wargames with maps and all that exist, and they can play those, would be a lot better fits in many a cases.
The One Page Rules games seem much better in that regard, they’re smaller in scope with units and stats so balance it naturally easier and it doesn’t have decades of history GW has to include. But if you have balance, you don’t have skewed lists and tactics to take advantage of the imbalance.

And if "people don't want to do narrative events", then what are these "most fun events... that aren't the competitive ones"?
If you're in a position to dispatch assassins to liquidate everyone on this call, myself included, it would be a mission of mercy.
Don't worry, they'll tell you, repeatedly and loudly.
No your OPINION is not correct and might be true for you. Speaking for others. Speaking it like fact means your media literacy is basically zero.
Take some time away from a keyboard sweaty and stop hating others
