She looks like a ship that can actually sit in the water comfortably. Might be useful for service to ocean worlds or worlds with very little land mass.

I agree! :) In 2013, I did some preview renders of a Spirit class in water. This was mainly to test an obscure renderer, but
buoyancy did cross my mind, that is also why I thought it would be nice to have some storage on top now. Might do a water landing scene some day.

It's sort of disappointing how with all the strange new worlds Star Trek has, considering planetary oceans as something to be explored and lived on is something Star Trek failed to realize. That and I so want sea shuttles with inflated floats to be a thing.

We have not seen it much indeed. (I recall 1 Voy episode, was it Thirty Days?) An ocean world could be interesting for a few episodes. :) I think most of my ships always will have a hint of nautical influence mainly in the shape of aquatic animals.
