She may well be straight up cynical. But her “beliefs” are not uncommon.
1st hand experience (wife was diagnosed with Breast C a few years back). We were surprised at # of people (some friends/ family) who suggested outright quackery- from reasons why she got it (hurtful) to remedies (stupid)….
