As has been already pointed out by others, going after overpayments is dangerous position to have because this could create collateral damage. They need to ensure that those who definitely need benefits continue to get them. They also need to raise the minimum wage to stop corporate socialism.

the problem is that if it was about saving money, they'd end conditionlity. all the money spent on maintaining and staffing a massive jobcentre in every town, plus a load of related call centres, and constant court cases and tribunals is significantly more than the pittance all of that scrapes back.

Probably best to not do anything like improve air quality in buildings. Probably best to just force people who can't work back to work. That's the right choice. Punish people who are sick instead of investing in ways to improve health. Yes, that's it. I'm the leftwing party!

At my fairly-decent unionized gov't position if u have to miss more than 5 days from work (including covid, which is absurd cos we know you can be sick and contagious for way longer) you have to go on short-term disability! I had to take 'half days' so that didn't kick in which is bureaucratic hell
