It worked with mine before. Basically what it did was get them to stop talking when they had no counter point to make that didn't sound dumb so they go silent. With this guy I'd simply ask, What goods or services does NASA provide to pay taxes for? And why do they receive government funding at all?

Then don't if they do it again or it comes up. Make them dig a deeper hole for themselves. My dad was convinced that an electric car could power itself by attaching a generator to the wheels. I then took his illogical conclusion further which made him go silent. He never brought it up again.

Horribly frustrating. But don’t give up. Don’t hound them but watch some of Fox and Fox Biz yourself and then point out when IT starts criticizing Trump. It’s happening more and more often. Also look for independent sources for info that contradicts Trump. Pick your shots. Good luck!
