Jimmy Carter was the first man I remember recognizing as our president when I was a little kid. I always thought of him similar to Mr. Rogers because those were the two main gentlemen I’d see on TV in my household most of the time. I wish I’d had a chance to have met him. Rest in peace, sir.

I was at Lackland AFB just having joined the USAF 3 days before his inauguration. After 4 years I separated from active duty 4 days before his term ended. President James Earl Carter Jr was my Commander in Chief.
