2. In 1911 his military unit was 2nd Battalion Alexandra P O W Yorkshire Regiment, his Rank Drummer, Service No. 9552.
He had been a regular soldier in the 2nd battalion and had been with the battalion when it first arrived in Belgium. #WW1 #neverforget

3. He went missing on 18th December 1914, but it looks like he spent the next two years living with a woman in Hazebrouck. A neighbour had reported him to the police and was captured. At his trial he spoke of family problems. #WW1 #neverforget

4. On cross examination among other things, he could not remember how he fed and clothed himself in them two years’ absence.
Despite all the evidence before all of this he was a good steady soldier but, he was sentenced to be executed. #WW1 #neverforget

5. On 4th March 1917 aged 23 he was executed. He is buried at Berneville Community Cemetery, France. #WW1 #neverforget
