Nice. It might be considered a special case of what picture theorist John Willats calls a 'false attachment' in his book Art and representation : new principles in the analysis of pictures. A highly special case because it involves comic book conventions and time. Recommended reading by the way

It's very different, but it reminds me of this weird thing Carlos Ezquerra used to do where he'd show shooter and target in a single panel, but using angles that don't make sense. And somehow made it work? Anyhow, I love comics.

What is going on spatially,between those 2 panels? Has Veronica turned round? Or is panel 2 a reverse angle on panel 1? Where has Reggie gone? Where did Archie appear from? Where did Betty appear from? Where is the sea (is it behind the viewer now?) It makes NO SENSE! But it's still kind of great.

As I see it, it’s graphic design, being used to make a layout dynamic, giving it more ‘pop’—just strategic eye candy, not really in the same class as one of your narrative juxtaposition thingies.
