The Tasmanian branch took it a step further down here by not even attempting to form government after the last election. They seem to be leaning heavily into being the natural party of opposition.
I fear it’s more likely that Labor would choose to govern in minority relying on the coalition; which is pretty much what they’re doing in the Senate rn.

I believe they've teamed up a few times in opposition to the Greens. ALP currently has a defacto arrangement co-governing with the LNP, so it's only a small step from there.
