yeah, to me it looks like moss/linen stitch with 2 strands of a chunky t shirt yarn held together to achieve a very large but still closed gauge

EVERYBODY! I figured it out. It's the waistcoat stitch, but I do think it's being done like the moss stitch, and that's why it's so deep, since waistcoat is usually quite dense

I'm going to work up a swatch to double check, but I'm 99% certain

To me, it looks like this crochet knit stitch. I have not tried this stitch myself, but you could try it our and see if it's correct.

They kinda do. But it was marketed as a crochet bag, and THEN the other day I bought one of the creator's patterns that she Does sell (only a few) because it looked a bit similar, to try to crack the mystery, and the pattern said SC.
