I was also literally the ONLY person in the Senior Week dorm who knew how to don an academic hood over their robes - I helped like 15 people on my floor bc *their moms* saw how I'd put mine on & fixed a bunch more at the assembly point.

OK, I see this happening every year and I love it. Someone knows how to do it, and then a little line of friends and acquaintances forms while they help. I enjoy going to commencement.
Oh, I graduated in 1999 (I dropped out of college for a few years), and to this day I think my mom has doubts about whether I actually graduated. Reason? I still lacked some important life skills in those days and didn't fill out the form to get my name printed in the commencement program.
I have what I am coming to recognize as "executive function deficits" but also a major fear of not getting shit done, so I not only filled out the form, but I also turned it in early.
Yes, I also like to arrive to appointments 15-20 minutes early.
Well that means that despite any "deficits," you have developed strategies that work for you. I have done this over time, but it's hard to fight what FEELS like a natural inclination toward chaos sometimes.
When I have described my coping strategies & external scaffolds aloud, they sound insane.
Like my "green means go/red means stop" ink color system for physical project status sheets at work when I started. (This also applied to text color in my electronic status sheet for my managers.)
I think it helped that I am *really* nerdy (often to the point of rigidity) about customs & practices when it comes to uniforms (& uniform-like attire.)
