You know, for all the bitching about the NY Subway, I got from 7th Ave in Brooklyn to Rockefeller Center in 24 minutes today for $2.90. It's the best deal on the planet and it's a shame we don't treasure this achievement more.

Being from a place with existent but subpar public transit (Baltimore), it grinds my gears when people with actual rail transit systems complain about it, like yeah it could be a lot better but at least you have trains to complain about
I love the subway to death. Buses however… those scare me. Especially when transferring from the subway. It’s so hilariously and specifically inconvenient at the worst times when using maps cuz my maps loves to just drag me around with these buses
It’s fantastic, I agree. But when you get to the area where buses are neighbors that don’t divorce till a specific point in the route… it gets chaotic 😭
I recently moved to NYC, and the subway is such an unbelievable success in my eyes. I think many New Yorkers are just numb to it as a massive achievement.

(This was actually really good, though)
Let's see, ATS in the A division, decades of upgraded interlocking and resignalling, three lines with CBTC with two more corridors underway...
But yeah, "nobody cares". :-/
