I’m sorry but I need to yell about this: That “Who Goes MAGA?” article devotes 3 paragraphs to inventing a hypothetical fascist closeted trans woman. Tacky, stereotypical, arguably offensive.

Especially with that last bit it feels very MenWritingWomen, but apparently it's written by a woman.
Someone who is somehow both self-aware and repressive, and motivated by jealousy.
People get right wing because they feel outcast, lonely, different from everyone else and too Online to be understood by mainstream society. And it especially preys on anxieties about manhood and its privileges (or lack thereof for some)
This article feels like writing fanfiction about imaginary evil trans women.
Like my phone says:
But these caricatures paint an inaccurate picture and felt more like victim blaming. Like when straight folks accuse every homophobe of secretly being gay.
Also I think that frankly any exploration into how any minority joins a reactionary movement that doesn't examine the broader societal context of the pressure of conformity is frankly just victim blaming as well.
