And intentionally removing the accessibility features. I'm seeing posts where the new website code deliberately blocks accessibility tech and renders it unusable.
No, the Biden admin did not. It’s typical to replace titular pages of course, but atypical to immediately remove references to policies or statements the President takes umbrage with, but he did the exact same the first time when Climate change pages disappeared almost instantly.
And ALL pages are actually required to be archived (not removed), which is clearly not the case here. Deleting them actually violates several rules, but hey, rules are for fools.
Web designer here circa 2000... redid several large non-profits/universities etc. When a new website is being developed, it's hidden but has a set launch date, and is fully functional with everything prepped/prepared & keeps the important bits of the last one. Eg. Languages!
From Reddit. I cannot speculate about the Spanish language page. But I think it is ridiculous that people are freaking out about the constitution, as if it isn’t available in a bajillion places? Libertarians literally use copies as wallpaper in their homes
So it's not alarming to you when excessive number of "broken links" ... all occurred within 24 hrs after Noon EST on Jan 20th?! 🤔
Wow... head in the sand!
Hi patti. The problem isn’t lacking alarm, it’s figuring out what is actually alarming in a sea of alarmism. The former page is archived, accessible, and also did not actually have the constitution on it, either.
Every new admin delete’s the former admin’s content and replaces it with their own.
One would think they'd maybe wait until certain Department Heads are in place to decide how they want to revise things though?? Going Dark and removing all Public Access is flat out wrong.
I did just go check CDC site and it is accessible ( someone had personally told me they tried before and could not access....)
So at least there's that.
Thanks for prompting me to look...
We'll see what the next week or so brings...
Well, here is Biden’s archived WH constitution page. It’s a history blurb, not the actual constitution. Maybe people are reacting in fear to an interpreted symbolic gesture from Trump—but that is still an extremely impractical way to handle the next 4 years
I don’t live in the US so I’m not personally concerned about the website - it’s just not surprising that people reacted this way because humans tend to be mostly feelings forward even though we think we’re facts first
I agree with you. I’m just exhausted by the effect it takes on for us here in the US and how we spin ourselves up into heightened states of frenzy and doom post on social media until we’ve all gone so far from emotional equilibrium that we can’t even begin to critically evaluate information.
The stress has such real physiological effects. People are scared, hurting, and grieving. There’s no perfect way to handle it and I don’t see a way to make it better, either.
I think there is great concern when many who have the WH’s ear are using the phrase “post-constitutional America” with pride. Especially when many of their voters don’t clock that this means their precious second amendment, too.

But he did the same last time, so it was to be expected.
Wow... head in the sand!
Broken links just means they’re fucking with a website

Have a nice day
I wonder when they’ll start purging the institutional libraries?
