The problem with buying local has always been the fact they do not compete with corporations. They are too expensive. It doesn't matter the reason it is just a fact. If you can afford it that's great but not everyone can.

I remember his tv commercial campaign to put brick and mortar businesses out of business. He succeeded. Nasty plan, nasty man. Taught people to go to brick and mortar to touchyfeelie then buy at lower cost from him online. Used small businesses and stole their customers.

I bought my last book local to support the closest small bookstore. It cost more than Amazon and it took me 1 .5 hours to drive there to pick it up. Staff there couldn’t seem to care less that I was a 1 st time customer.

That's unfortunate, but I think, a rarity. Most small businesses are grateful for your patronage. And Amazon never has been and never will be. That's a shame that your nearest bookstore is an hour and a half away!
