Yes it's one of my strongest beliefs that airports should have different areas for Efficient People, the rest of them can take their sweet time if they want but I am here to be Good At Airports

The most brutal thing that has ever happened to me is that they (I think it might only have been city that got the point of doing it?) gave us "just leave everything in your bag" then almost immediately took it away again.
Amsterdam were doing it for years then London City started doing it and was lovely to fly between them. Although LCY had some weird shoe scanner thing that made no sense.
It's crazy how much the post 2006 "unpack your bag in the security line" culture has become so ingrained that at Luton (where the 100ml rule still applies but you don't need to remove stuff) they have giant signs and people to shout at travellers to remind them NOT to remove liquids and laptops etc
So much of it is theatre. The liquids etc. It's very annoying. I think Edinburgh have just dropped the requirement to take them out of your bag, but you still have to be under 100ml for each thing.
yeah there are new scanners that are supposed to mean this is true for everywhere that has them but they were giving too many false positives or something so UK airports at least have reverted
The limit was supposed to have been lifted at all major UK airports by Summer this year, but... it's been kept in place (some airports struggling to adapt spaces for the new scanners, apparently)
Cause I always have a saxophone with me, I’m ruthlessly efficient. At Gatwick I don’t even put it through the scanner I just hand it over (they select it out for hand inspection literally every time.)
They get really baffled by a cintiq. Half of them think it should be out, half don't, so I always just have it out and have to explain "it's a screen you draw on. No, it's not a laptop"
I thought the family and I were being Efficient People at Heathrow security this year, then we got to our holiday flat and realised we'd left all our toiletries there.
