Your dad is like the Forrest Gump of musical genius. First Dylan, now Demento. I’m excited to hear about his spring semester abroad in Hamburg in 1962.
My Dad's claim to fame is that he tutored Ted Hendricks, Hall of Fame DE for the Raiders, while at the University of Miami to keep him academically eligible.
I had something like that from my mother when I mentioned a movie from Ralph Bakshi to her. "Oh, your grandmother worked with him at Terry Toons. He was really nice." She hadn't known about his filmography, so explaining "Felix the Cat" to her was kind of awkward.

She doesn’t remember Don Van Vilet, aka Captain Beefheart, tho. Supposedly he and Frank met in high school.
