a lot of the bias comes from the fact that a lot of the industry only sees "cozy" games as either "a way to sell micro transactions" or "not actually games" while games like Sims 4 sells more than the rest of EAs products combined by year.

I tend to agree as I prefer them most of the time, but I do like variety. The other problem, for me, is that it takes a million years to get a few great RPGs ... & their sequels ... (Not "mmorpg/online")
Variety is a necessity.

Single player and NOT open world, for me. Doesn't have to be completely linear - survival horror games aren't linear - but I'd rather replay a 5-15 hour game for 500 hours than do one 500-hour open world, personally.

AAA publishers like to insistent single player is somehow antiquated because multiplayer was a huge trend and lent itself better to games as a service and micro transactions

the experience of single player and multi player are often completely different and should surprise absolutely no (except AAA publishers chasing trends and microtrqnsacitons)
