They got fucked up and in a largely stalemate for a few yrs against UKR.
Rest of Europe, especially NATO, will smash the Russians.

I think you're right, and I think he thinks Trump will acquiesce about everything, but the rest of NATO won't and they are far more technologically advanced, more numbers, and still lots of nukes to bring in MAD as a factor.
They might need time to rebuild before rampaging.
