we see a lot of amphipods in all depths of water. Some species live in the plankton but most live on or close to the sea floor! They come in a range of colours, shapes and sizes

How large are these? Are they food for other species?

Between around 1 cm to 10 cm would be normal. Many are smaller and some get up to over 30cm long! Amphipods form part of the diets of everything from fish to anemones! They are also predators and scavengers in their own rights.
