Nations are “forged in fire”. Hopefully the EU will be as well. This is its moment to grasp what history requires it to grasp: protection of Western values and freedoms.
Both should have happened a long time ago. I fear that we will meet Z in Lithuania in March. EU too slow, Germany in forming a new government, and with a little but daily increasing help from Putlers new friends in Washington. Maybe I'm too pessimistic. Maybe too realistic ...
It is a sign of European solidarity that UK and France take the lead while Germany is changing its government. There more collaboratio, proactivity and trust we have, the stronger Europe is
more like beat we get, we would need a lot more. And i would bet my ass He will try to convince germany to pay for it qs usual. Not that i am against but its a european effort not a french
At some point the EU will have to interfere with DJT's rapprochement with russia. Especially if the US make concessions to putin to leave NATO completely. The mineral deal is just a ploy. DJT knows he can get the same from his buddy. Peace or no peace, it wouldn't matter. EU needs to be in Greenland
I know it won’t happen, but Poland should merge their air force with Ukraine’s and engage Russia in Ukraine.
I’d imagine Less Politically problematic than sending ground forces to support UKR
This is increasingly true. If Ukraine is Belarusianised, Moldova will imminently fall. Hungary and Slovakia, voluntary puppets of the Kremlin, will gain land borders with their overlord's sphere. A nightmarish strategic situation will arise.
Support for Ukraine is far from altruistic for Europe.
Yes. To me it's the only way. Not backing down to russian/american threats now is vital.
Nobody wants war, but the failure to stand our ground uch worse in the end.
Absolutely.
But for decades we've been indoctrinated, poisoned by this fear for the russians, russian propaganda creating the narrative. I think we've also gotten comfortably spoiled of the idea of the everlasting peace after 1989, the average citizen not paying attention to what's happening.

Not just EU.

And yes, it needs boots on the ground and a united EU Army.
Or be forced to maintain readiness for war with a rebuilt russia indefinitely.
