the thing about gender is that it's something even cis people benefit from exploring it. wouldn't you rather know that you're cis for certain on your own terms instead of taking for granted what society has endlessly told you since birth? no harm in deciding it for yourself. it's empowering.

I went to my neighbors house as a kid and this girl made me a cookie in an easy bake oven and that shit rocked. I went home and asked for one only to faced with absolute horror. I could not understand what was so wrong about wanting to be able to make myself a fresh baked cookie whenever I wanted.

Gender roles are pathetically stupid. Adhering to made up rules with no basis in reality only makes people miserable. We shouldn't be teaching people to be afraid of exploring their interests or themselves. That's how you get shame-ridden, fearful, emotionally stunted people.

Exactly. Honestly, the main reason I didn’t “want to be a boy” as a kid or teenager was mostly due to how masculinity and maleness were packaged by society. It looked MISERABLE to be a man.
Those strict binaries of gender and expression are so damaging for literally everyone. 😕

I thought I was “fat” here. I wasn’t. I was just a 15 year old competitive swimmer who’d been swimming since she was 7.

Honestly, I think I was able to accept my femininity better through reading discourse online and making friends with trans women and listening to their stories. I can’t identify with it all and I’m definitely cis, but being able to fold those boxes from the 90s and put them away has been *healing*

Now I’m myself. On the outside, I’m sure my aesthetic resembles something vintage and flowery (and I kind of hate how too many trad wives are trying to steal the aesthetic for pushing alt-right ideology, but that is an entirely separate rant)

I can be girly and still love video games
