It's reasonable to freak out. These are much higher approval ratings than he had at many points during his first term, while we are watching the wholesale destruction of many vital American institutions.

It's critical because dropping approval will reduce Trump's power.

He's been losing ground on the economy in practically every poll. The party is also just kind of screwed in the mid-terms if those cross-tabs are anything close to accurate.

At least in states with closed primaries--might be some curveballs in states with open primaries putting forth anti-trump sentiment to the general, especially with the D approval so down.

It really is but most polls have the same dynamic where if you specify what his policies do, support for it drops.
