PH in Sco needed a funding model - C&F - but its essentially small in the wider mix. Lets generously assume everything thats proposed gets built. We're roughly looking at 95GWh of storage and GWs from 2.8->7.7

None of the above means don't build it tbc. But the maximal potential of PH is limited in GB by geography* and the system value is lower than it could be if it were distributed more evenly.

To not be limited by geography have a look at distributed Pumped Heat Energy Storage which we’re working on (MW scale and above, durations up to 72 hrs) https://www.synchrostor.co.uk
There are certainly a confetti of options competing to fill various parts of the MDES>LDES need. It remains to be seen what proves the best solution on price and system benefit.
But having done all that its still the wrong side of the B6 boundary. While it will lower local curtailment its a lousy location really from the POV of the overall grid.
