I think that claim is based off a bunch of in progress work to be more self sufficient but how they can't or worse don't want to intervene in some other method is beyond me. COVID seems to have turned businesses into even bigger sets of profiteering chucklefucks.
Do you not think it might take more than a few months to end our reliance on traditional energy production? 🤦♂️ if the Tories had used the money they put towards our energy bills to pay for solar panels on every house, we would have had far cheaper bills now, unfortunately they decided to reward greed
The higher energy bills in Britain are nothing more than government authorised price bloating to subdue demand. That's why energy companies have been making huge profits for years. The price we pay isn't remotely connected to the cost price of production.
I agree, that wasn’t the point I was making. Instead of using the money to save on bills for years by installing panels across the country (same cost) they paid the energy companies executives a nice bonus by handing out money off bills. Now prices are going up again and we’re in the same situation.
Dave, I did get your point about investment in solar panels as opposed to handing energy company executives unearned fortunes from bonus and dividend payouts.
Tories had all these ideas for 14 years and instead built a coal mine. Labour haven’t been in long enough to make a difference yet. They could use wave power, or they could do what the Japanese came up with have mini turbines in the central reservation cars creating power just by driving passed

Jay Motty for benevolent dictator 😉
Unfortunately, as usual, the government didn't bother with any research into their likely effect on atmospheric thermodynamics.
Prediction, they'll have to start turning wind turbines off.
