There's a system where you kill a specifically spawned enemy in a Grineer mission spawn a Kuva Lich with a specific type of Kuva weapon, which is just a better version of an existing Grineer weapon you could get before

Basically a nemesis system

I hate dealing with Warframe’s nemesis system but they unfortunately drop the best weapons in the game. Remember how good Arca Plasmor was? It’s not the best anymore because they made Arca Plasmor 2.

You get a personal nemesis, and can go on a series of missions to essentially figure out the password that kills them

After you do all that, you can get the weapon they used, which will come with additional elements + effects

It's functionally a part of the endgame customization grind

They are like a sudo nemisis system. Kuva Liches come from the Grineer, and Sisters come from the Corpus. (Sisters and Liches use the same mechanics.) They require special conditions to spawn one and special mods on the Parazon to kill them.

Some more details. Spawning, hunting, and then killing a lich will give you a Kuva weapon, a power up variant of an existing weapon. The weapon will have a unuiqe name and will have a bonus stat on it based on the warframe you used to spawn it.

Lastly, Sisters of Parvos are the Corpus equivalent to Kuva Liches. They reward a Tennet weapon that gives bonuses just like the Kuva weapons do. The only additional bonus with Sisters is getting a special Hound companion, a robotic dog. Again, Liches and Sisters function mostly the same.

It's kinda like the nemesis system from Mordor, you kill a special enemy and it spawns a bigger version of it you have to take out, in return you get their weapon with a modifier depending on what frame you used to kill them the 1st time or you can spare them and use them to help you in missions.
