With the recent Sony cancelling every fucking project news, honestly Xbox really is positioned quite well. Whether that pans out is another question though.

We live in a topsy-turvy world where Microsoft is the most pro-sumer competitor in console gaming (still behind Valve/GoG)

They WOULD have been possitioned quite well had they any exclusives to compete...but no they have possitioned themselves to support a console that isnt theres during an exclusivity drought.

I admit I didn't read the article, but when a console costs $600+ (and aren't going down in price), I think it's pretty ridiculous to ask people to switch mid-generation, for a similar box and some exclusives.
Both companies put their exclusives on PC for that reason.

though it's worth pointing out, a Series S is very affordable and plays all the gamepass games.

The only reason why I have an xbox is because the S was reasonably priced and it plays Xbox/360 games (Ninja Gaiden Black babyyy).
I don't even use it for Gamepass because PC gaming is so much better

the series S is game developers core problem with development for the platform and has led to multiple developers giving up on the paltform altogether, its in Xboxs polocy for games to have to run on both an X and an S and the S is just plain underpowered.

This whole Series S is a problem stuff, comes from a couple devs. The only games I heard had an issue were Baldur's Gate 3 split-screen multiplayer, and Black Myth Wukong (a game that got elevated specifically because it was a first time AAA release for Chinese studios).
I don't entirely buy it yet

Xbox is going to have a good year with a lot of their big games coming out.

It's not going to move boxes or sell games on their platform though, might see a rise in Gamepass subs, but that'll fall off after the price goes up in two or three months. So, like, what's the win here?
