I would kill for a remaster collection. I've done a lot if not all of MH content since 3U, but I never did a lot of 4U due to losing my data transferring to 3DS to New 3DS.

3 Ultimate ruled for a lot of reasons, but your take is pretty correct. I'd argue 4U is viable to drop also - it had a lot of problems. Generations Ultimate is the pinnacle of old-MH that still managed to do some weird different shit (styles) and has the highest monster count in the series, I think.

Dude GU is still the MH game that gives you the most bang for your buck in terms of content, the most hunts and monsters in any game, the most gear by extent, and 6 styles on top of the 14 weapons. MH is one of the most "go back" friendly series

I love GU so much. It's like the perfect combo of old school and newer stuff. The weapon styles are super fun and the arts are a better version of the wirebug moves imo. I hope the next portable style game leans back in its direction.

GU is fantastic, World is fantastic, Wilds is probably great. 4U is landing a hail-mary guard point. It’s crafting your first G-Rank armor set and feeling like you’re gonna make it. It’s getting up and trying again after getting stunlocked by Azure Rathalos 3 carts in a row. 4U is Monster Hunter.

It's pretty easy, from what I remember

You basically just save a snapshot of what your current loadout is, and then you're just pulling from stash to restore it to that state

so it's like quick save/load except with scarcity

As soon as I realized they dumped off everything else in your pouch I started using them to just avoid having to stash crap after every hunt. And it restocks at the same time, so it's a bonus!

Helps to experiment with skills like Mushroomancer so you have different item requirements.

GU almost made Iceborne unplayable for me because Valor style is so fun and every weapon gets cool wacky shit and my brain got completely reworked for valor move sets such that I kept dying in early Iceborne fights due to trying to do combos that don’t exist

I almost miss 3rd gen type of stuff. Rise and World felt extremely streamlined, which is good, but I liked the feeling of having to do all that prep and make sure your gear is in order before you start the quest. That made it feel like the stakes were higher.
