Something a lot of people are not going to like is that a return to authoritarian barbarism is going to make bog standard liberalism revolutionary again and people in the US are going to be way more primed to line up behind that than socialism.

Having a hard time putting this into words but it's like, left politics is a weird hobby 90% of the time, until its not, at which point the regular people show up and the weird hobbyists get sidelined
I think there's a dialectical relationship at play between "theory hobbyists" and the "normal people" which develops through the participation and mingling of both in the struggle.
Unfortunately for them, the spaces that left politics hobbyists control right now have baked in hostility to regular people in such a way that it's difficult for them to get any infusion of talent
Crank distillation. Every normal person thats serious about politics participates in the two-party system and as you get further away from that the fewer normies there are and the more cranks you get. Election season brings in a fresh wave of normies to ground a space in real politics
We bitch about this on the left but it hold true on the other side of spectrum too. More reasonable libertarians complain about their spaces being dominated by sovcits and age of consent freaks
That'll be natural sequel to some on the left stubbornly denying Trump was truly an authoritarian/fascist (because it meant a united front with liberals was required, and that they weren't wrong)
