Maybe ten pints a week on average which is fine I think but I’d binge drink and go too far with it. If I can cut out spirits I’ll look upon it as progress.
I found, longer-term, that I've become less cynical. I used to rely on it to enjoy/enhance things like gigs, sports and social events, but without it, you just have to learn to appreciate those things for what they are, and I find myself enjoying things a lot more now instead of being a bore.
Yep it takes a lot though to think “OK I’m going to be the same throughout this occasion.” Maybe due to the excitement that once came with drinking when I first started it. I’m only just realising that the effects of it change as our bodies change.
Yeah, definitely, and usually it's more punishing/negative. If I drank now the way I used to when I was 18, it would destroy me.
But also, its purpose and function both change as well as you get older, so it's good to think about what the point of it is every now and then.
