My Dad was very analytical about life. He taught me how to parallel park a 1/2 hour before my test and I aced it. He taught me how to gauge the turn by the other cars around me.
I used to care about it - but then I got stuck in a 3-hr traffic jam, uphill, in the Pocono Mtns, and forced to ride the clutch the whole way to crawl forward. I thought my leg would give out.
Manual transmissions do not go well with slow traffic, and that’s everywhere now.
I did a lot of my early learning in SF lol. Depending on the car and road it could be a lot of fun and I miss it sometimes but I used to be kinda into cars. Now I’m into being comfortable if I have one car.
yeah every time someone starts telling me unprompted that stick is "more fun" i inform them that i hate driving and none of it is fun for me. i drive because it's necessary.
well the first two times i took it i failed, the second time a semi truck was waiting behind me and honking on the side street where i was *attempting* to parallel park so yeah did real bad. third time i was like ‘do i have to try?’ they said no so i aced the rest of it. third times the charm. 🥲
