Believe me, I think the vast majority of clinical faculty would love to subtract but feel they're handcuffed by APA (thus the reason for PCSAS's existence).

Totally understand. But then I think the trouble is with the curricula the APA approves, and the extent to which they do/don't change (and perhaps we have agree more there).
Some space for innovation in current curriculum, but IMO, the transformation you seek isn't feasible without reform from APA.
We implemented a pre-registration requirement at UW. But otherwise it's kind of niche. The research methods course doesn't cover much OS. And is we offer no training so I cannot guarantee students' PRs are good (except mine or @drpriscillalui.bsky.social 's of course).
I’m sure @Kevin’s registrations are excellent! We do what we can and are always learning and improving. OS doesn’t have to be a separate course and should be infused in everything we do.
An undergrad and 1st year PhD student in our lab just did their respective study registrations, another 1st year PhD student is preparing a stage 1 RR. We just had a lab journal club on OS & TOP guidelines last week. No extra coursework.
