That’s glib and callous.  if they refuse to go back to work, they risk being deemed resigned. It’s not a tv show with the critic “history” they didn’t sign up to be advocates. That’s the job of the public here in the states.

The other ninety percent of their colleagues didn't have solidarity with their colleagues (assuming 30 year work history, ten percent swingeing cuts, returns of the chosen few). These aren't French government unions - the Fed workforce is triarchic, just like the country.
The broad historical comparanda applicable (either Air Traffic Controllers in 1981 or the German sailors on the north Sea fleet in November 1918) don’t sit well. why should these workers put themselves on the reed-thin lever of attenuated public opprobrium?
