Well Ramsey MacDonald didn't exactly shine in 1931...formed a coalition with the Tories which then set about 'balancing the budget' in depths of economic slump

I’m we are limiting this to in your time I’m guessing there are only 3 in contention? Although I personally rate Brown he failed to win a general election whereas Starmer did & with a huge majority. I think Starmer is doing Ok, has over 4 yrs to continue to make a difference & will be re-elected.
As long as he protects the wealthy from a wealth tax and keep punishing the vulnerable, Lib Dem, Green and Reform will benefit. Starmer will lose next GE.
Starmer is a Tory, he has no convictions or personality; ffs he makes John Major charismatic. He’s full of sound bites and nothing more. Starmer is a betrayal of everything Labour once was
We’ll have to agree to disagree. I’ve been a Labour supporter all my life & I like him. He’s delivering the manifesto against almost impossible odds & has restored the country’s international credibility. I’d like him to go further (partly so I can feel good about myself?!!!) but I remain optimistic
Personally I hope Labour will lose all their supporters to Green and Lib Dem. Punishing the vulnerable was not in their manifesto. In Denmark we have wealth tax. Starmer is scared if the rw press to go ahead with what is needed.
It won’t because the LDs & Greens have proved unreliable & flaky in power, the LDs in coalition govt with the Tories from 2010-15 when they were the joint architects of austerity & the Greens in local govt. Don’t forget the LDs sided with wealthy landowners against Labour’s inheritance tax changes!
If Starmer’s Labour were standing in a Danish election, it would be branded very right wing. In Denmark, Social Democratic Party supports the elderly and disabled people. They don’t cut their allowances.
It could be argued that the Danish Social Democrat party’s immigration policies are quite right wing. Starmer & the Labour party don’t get enough credit in our media for their handling of immigration which has achieved more in 9 months than the Tories cruelly performative policies did in 10 years.
