President-elect Donald Trump gave House Republican lawmakers a directive on Monday, days before what is expected to become an embattled speakership fight: Support Mike Johnson’s reelection.

No surprise here. The last thing Trump wants is chaos in the House when Congress meets in joint session to count the electoral votes. If he wants Mike Johnson to be done away with as Speaker then that will be for some time in the future.
He wants to make recess appointments and has promised to ruin the Speaker of the House who refuses him. I'm sure Johnson's continued tenure relies very much on whether he tosses this country under a bus or not. Trump wants that b/c he knows that even friendly Republicans are going to refuse some.
Mike Pence managed to not screw that up and I'm sure Kamala Harris will manage too. At least the sitting President isn't demanding that she break Constitutional Law.
What ungodly price did little Mike pay for Trump's endorsement. Didn't the Bible teach him anything about selling his soul.
Poor child, you cannot serve God and Trump.
Well, Trump wants to make recess appointments because not even a friendly Republican Senate is going to approve some of his Cabinet picks so he has threatened to ruin the career of the next Speaker if they don't let him. Johnson is a sycophant so that's probably why he got the endorsement.
Uhm, apparently Trump thinks he tells Congress what to do. Wrong. They own him and his office. Trump best get in line with Congress or prepare to spend a lot of time golfing.
He realizes without a Speaker, House cannot convene. If the House can't convene, it can't certify his election. If it can't certify by 20th, no inauguration. Somebody on transition team probably put together a comic book on this issue so Trump could understand and tweet.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bars current and former federal, state and military officials who have "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the country from holding office again.
Congress yes, but the GOP is nothing but a cult of personality around Donald Trump now.
. . .and the congressional majority is part of that cult. They don't see themselves as independent, just as vassals of their lord and master, Donald Trump (and Trump's boss, President Elon Musk).

Trump heard the talk about a protracted fight over Speaker holding up congressional certification of Trump's election. So Johnson is safe until January 6 anyway.

What a shame he picked the side that makes stupid decisions in their sleep and rolls with them into morning.
