My understanding is that modern high schoolers either 1) know nothing except what happened in popular culture in the last three weeks, or 2) have complete encyclopedic knowledge of everything since the dawn of time.

Judged Lincoln-Douglas rounds each year at a tournament hosted by the school where I taught for over a decade. Coincided with a huge volleyball tournament where we also volunteered. A super busy, fun weekend with amazing performances by really talented kids coached by our excellent colleagues.
