The hiding of Anne Frank and others like her were selfless acts; things that brought no material benefit to the people who helped
Many, many americans wouldn't commit such selflessness. They would opt for their proud individualism instead. Sad that many of us have strayed so far from empathy
Me too. Though while most people think they would, they wouldn’t. They’d put their own survival first. At Yad VaShem in Jerusalem, there is a memorial grounds to gentiles who sheltered Jews during the Holocaust. There are more than you’d think, but very few compared to entire populations.
Man ... my bf just said he is waiting for these things to actually affect him and im ready to tell him to move out. I have no time for people with zero empathy ... how did I not see this? My trump loving dad broke me
Update: the Colombia fiasco affects him. His words: petulant toddler in charge.
Bonus pts for knowing the extra cost to use military plane vs civilian planes is horrendous waste (like the last administration who sent almost 500 planes to Colombia without drama, and in budget)
Do you really think most people would stand up for a stranger? I have been in situations where they did not, but I hope your fortunes are better than theirs.
