the price of video games really needs to be looked into. i seriously don’t get why we’re still accepting $50-$80 a game when the games aren’t even worth half that. especially when the games are sold digitally and can’t be transferred, resold, etc.

I think we're looooong overdue for another video game crash. It sucks because there are a lot of consumers who believe the prices are fair, but they aren't. Especially when we're getting half assed games filled with glitches and bugs.
I had no idea cart game prices had returned. In 1995, I payed $89 for a Genesis game, Legend of Oasis, with a battery backup. In today's dollars, that's $186.59, according to the BLS inflation calculator.
Not to mention most major companies don't even give you everything with the game, they leave out a lot of stuff gamers want knowing they'll squeeze more money out of them with DLC's.
I will say, I bought BG3 for $40 or $45 and have played almost nothing but for nearly three months. That one’s worth the price. Tekken 8? Glad I paid with a gift card.
i'm pretty sure if the video game prices continue rising we'll see everyone adopting the good old "we play pirated video games because we can't afford buying legit ones" trend from the 90s-2000s developing not-so-rich countries
It's especially crazy considering how often Devs deal with mass lay-offs. I'd be fine with the price increases if I knew the employees were seeing the benefit of increased profits.
