For example a friend of mine is part of a DJ community with also some graffiti artists. They get their “projects” to create art usually from companies or directly from the city. Usually several artists are involved and they put a lot of effort in it. Really cool, should be more projects like this.
There is abandoned industrial buildings/areas where I couldn’t care less about artists doing their thing 🤷♂️ Still private property but I would consider that a gray zone.
When it’s about “no permission” and spraying on other people’s or company’s property, I would ask why? If the art is more important than the property, where is the line. Would I be allowed to spray paint on any parked car’s windshield for example ans make it useless?
Plenty of art I don’t like, which is fine.
Not a fan of graffiti tags especially when spayed on top of other art.
IMHO they are the graffiti version of a dog peeing every 10 yards just to mark its territory.
nope. handstyles have always been a fundamental and necessary part of graffiti. every good writer has at least a decent handstyle and a lot of people don't even consider throw ups or pieces until they're satisfied with their tag
Maybe they are used differently now. The meaning I know was gang/territory related and many ‘taggers’ used to deface other street art cos they weren’t talented enough to do their own.
The council of my city has designated certain areas as graff friendly zones. An alley near me has been dubbed the 'Valley Of The Kings' and has some amazing art.

sounds like you need to think more.
