Eep. Shout-outs to my girlfriend's sister who my girlfriend lived with at her old apartment when my girlfriend asked her to be available for the guy to fix a leak in their ceiling and her sister blowing it off for months until chunks of the ceiling started falling down.
(we thankfully caught this VERY VERY EARLY and got someone down here within the hour to take a look and help out, so we should have avoided the worst case! but still!! AHHHHHHHH)
Make sure to get the leak solved from the source. I once lived in a house where the landlord wouldn't do anything to fix it (I think the leak was coming from the roof) and the entire ceiling collapsed.
thankfully it was VERY VERY OBVIOUS where the leak was happening and was immediately solved (upstairs neighbors literally flooded their own apartment and dipped) so we should mainly just be waiting for it to dry and then dealing w repairs
Good luck! Last month there were a few drops making their way through my apartment floor to the floor below and the plumbers were here on & off for nearly a month to fix it.
IT'S THE WORRRSSTTT. knocking on wood the problem is solved!! we had a whole chunk of our ceiling fall (AT 3 AM ;A;) after years of patch jobs and not taking care of the source. the fear is REAL!!
Oh man I had that happen at my old apartment and the landlord took over a YEAR to get it fully repaired. I'm pretty sure most of that "repair" just came from our upstairs neighbor leaving.
Oof. I have bad experiences with something similar since our geyser is right above my bed (nothing happened and it got solved tho). Glad you got it early.
That’s as much fun as a closet water heater suddenly depositing 50 gallons of hot water in our pantry 3 days ago. 1 hardwood floor wrecked in the process. I feel for y’all.
