FWS have won their case against the Scottish Government. We will be reading the judgement as quickly as possible so we can properly understand what the Court has decided today.

TBH I don't think it changes much, if we are honest with ourselves we've always know transwoman & transmen can't change our biological sex, we just want to get on with & live our lives and be treated as any other woman or man.
For practically every purpose that matters from a biochemistry perspective, yes we do change our biology. This is why using none scientific definitions of "biological sex" makes no sense.
We'd urge people not to panic - there will be lots of commentary coming out quickly that is likely to deliberately overstate the impact that this decision is going to have on all trans people's lives. We'll say more as soon as we're able to. Please look out for yourselves and each other today 💗🏳️⚧️
The fact that it got this far is fucking outrageous. At times like this, I remember that most people get the most important stuff wrong at the time, and only in retrospect do we agree that the divine right of kings, slavery, and universal binary sex are absurd and oppressive ideas.
I see some transphobic trash commenting. Makes for easy blocks.
This is depressing and goes against the trend in many EU countries. Speak about a sad post-Brexit divergence :-(
Well, Germany's new political Parties are probably getting rid of the self-determination law that we have since Nov 2024. They are big fans of Trump and his politics, so you can't be talking about Germany
The AfD is very much not in power and is not going to be in power. A CDU-SPD or CDU-Gruenen coalition is absolutely not going to be composed of "fans of Trump and his politics"!
Well, the AfD is the biggest opposition Party right now. How do I know, I live in Germany and I write every day about politics. They showed the coalition contract from CDU7CSU and SPD, and they will reevaluate the self-determination law 3 years early in July 2026 with sight of child protection
and women's Protection. Friedrich Merz has said that he wants to roll bag that law more than ones.
Alexander Dobrindt said yesterday in an interview how much Donald Trump is showing how fast the democracy can be changed, and he wants that for Germany as well
In the US it's gotten bad how UNINFORMED people are on assault risks that transwomen have just trying to walk down the street in the US; Americans have become vicious in their "antiwoke" zeal (a backlash to constantly hearing "DEI" & athletics issues & hear zero on ASSAULTS). Spreading to the UK.
She was beaten up at her mom's in Scotland by her maniac transphobic brother. Years ago she was raped at a communal restroom & once at an office. Trans women are at great risk with all the amped up hate. She was hit in the face in a London market last summer & knocked down in a grocery for no reason
What people twitting about how trans people are "entitled" don't realize is the risk of rape & assault by psychotic trans haters when they walk anywhere. My best friend, a transwoman in her late 50s, feels great risk in male restrooms, has been raped twice. Was beaten up at christmas w/her own cane.
So if the Supreme court rules that you are a terrorist and a sex offender, it's right even though it has evidence that says otherwise, and you should be punished anyway. Because that's what you say right here
Well... yeah. That's the whole point of the Supreme Court. It makes the final determination on the interpretation of the law. What do you propose? We just all go around determining ourselves what the law means?
The problem is in the ambiguity in the law (as per the CNN reporting) and the failure of the Supreme Court to recognize the ambiguity. What the heck is “biological sex”. If you tell me it’s determined by one’s genitals, then it should say that. If it does, that’s a very narrow view.
The court just skipped over that and quickly defined "biological sex", without rationale or proper consideration, to mean what someone was assigned in some document at birth, completely ignoring all the ways that approach is insane.
That's not even true, a little under a decade ago we had a very pro LGBTQ+ Prime Minister. This decision is scaling back rights that were won 20 years ago.
One additional voice has been seen on BBCNews a cis universisty lecturer in law agreeing this will likely have negative impact on parts of society. (Aye, trans citizens).
When surfing the internet to engage with what was being said about the ruling and what it means, I was powerfully struck by the parallels with what MAGA has brought about in the USA. The two crucial attack points of "trans" and "woke" are to be found in myriad comment streams on this ruling.
The legal ruling leaves me very concerned. What those in favour of the ruling have been saying, leaves me very concerned. I am fearful that crucial understanding is under threat by the social politics swirling around the ruling and the activism that led to it.
You don't need to read the Judgement to know a GRC now has zero value and that by using the term "biological" sex, our highest court has fallen to anti trans fascism

Hope a case goes up to ECHR at some point

We’ve gotten too complacent. We’ve wasted time arguing amongst ourselves. We need to organise. We need to fight back!
What's incorrect about that assertion?
