idk where u live but in the US at least it is illegal to collect a dead person’s debts from surviving relatives

if ur card was blocked or any liens placed on ur accounts for this reason, there’s no legal basis and u can contest it

I’m not a lawyer but u may not have to pay ur dead relative’s debt

Hey -

You can't inherit debt. If money was taken from your account that didn't originally belong to the estate then you need to see a lawyer.

The way it works is all debts are subtracted from the estate, then the remaining assets are distributed to the inheritors.
