I must admit, I haven’t been keeping tabs on Spectrum 10K for a while but I knew it was doomed after that Aspie Supremacist woman they appointed an “ambassador” spent a week word vomiting all over the place.

Now, if SBC would retire and take his theories with him…

Spectrum 10K has been quiet for a while but I’m so glad this decision has been made.

I really hoping SBC does retire from autism research now. I’m sure he was hoping Spectrum 10K would be his final legacy. When in fact it’s started the unravelling of it!

I read “The Essential Difference” while doing my Master’s. It has obviously aged hideously but even when his theory was new, I’m surprised it gained so much traction. The book is objectively terrible on about five different levels.

I don’t follow these groups, however, I am not a fan of Autism Speaks- the puzzle piece logo, the offensive language and messaging, the aggressive treatments, and the name. As a literal processor, shouldn’t our non-verbal friends be offended by the name?

I wouldn’t call that a microaggression or anything, but yeah, Autism Speaks is awful and speaks over autistic people. Terrible “charity,” and calling it a charity is being too charitable.
