I will eventually buy the Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 remake, because the series is an ultimate comfort zone I’ve returned to throughout adult life. But I’ve never quite gotten the fascination with 8. I would have bought an 11 remake Day One, best in the series, IMO - ThreadSky

I’ve heard good things. The novel is one of my favorite books. I have a couple of translations and the best one has a lot of end notes with perspective and facts that help explain things.

Yeah I'm not sure what version i have. It's 4 books and at the end of each chapter(?) Or section(?) It has like a little 2-3 line poem.

The Tuttle edition, which was the only one around when I was growing up, is solid but no end notes and it translates figures of speech literally.

The moss Roberts translation localizes figures of speech and it has end notes that provide context and commentary. It’s the best one. On sale on Amazon

The officer play can be fun but 11 was just about perfect in balancing all the aspects of the game.
