Hmm, a note of caution: viewing Earth as vile (futurism) or good (current environmentalism) represents two sides of the same old coin, namely, geocentrism which thinks earth=earth+life (sic).
This essay is great but overlooks this crucial ecological point.

Thank you for posting this essay from 2017– I kept thinking it was current which is a sad reminder we are re-living this state of affairs.

I was also expecting the author to mention the Zuckerberg/Musk creed of “move fast and break things” but I guess that may have come after this was published.
